Maka was tasked by a young family to help with the renovation of their summerhouse. The property, a derelict farm in rural Sweden was in need of a makeover in terms of both finishes and layout.

The farm consisted of two buildings; a main house and a small pig sty. The buildings where positioned in a slope and we proposed an addition which links the two buildings and separate levels together.

In the added space we placed a new entrance as well as a central kitchen and dining area. This enabled us to improve the layout within the original structures, with new bathrooms and bedrooms.

The new facade is made of wood and kept in a similar red shade as the originals but perforated with glass to offer generous views towards both the new courtyard and neighbouring properties to west and the the open landscape to the east.
